This stuff was invented by a doctor in Ocean City, MD, at about the time my WIP takes place. My time-travelers are sunburned, and he'll use it on them. I'd like to know if they would have heard of it in the present (before time traveling to 1902.)

I always used Noxzema for sunburns growing up. However, most people I know have never heard of it being used in that way.

It is delightlfully cooling. :tongue

My mom used it for years and for sunburns also. She was born in 1905. You might check nox and see when it was first produced. I'm sure google could find it for you.

Fun fact: I am in Ocean City, MD right now.

anyway, I've heard of it and would understand it in context, but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what it's used for.

Never heard of it.

But then, I'm British, so I've never seen the sun either.

I used Noxema religiously as a cleanser when I was a teenager.

Shady! Stop by the OC Life Saving Museum if you have time! It's a cool place, right at the inlet. I've done a lot of my research there. Are you a Marylander?

we always have it in the house...for sunburns. the kids know to use it when they get a bit too much sun. the kids range in age from mid twenties to thirteen. hope this helps. i guess it depends on the parents introducing it to the kids. it has always been a part of my life...and always for sunburns.

What good is it for sunburn, just a moisturiser? It is pretty standard cold cream.

I've never heard of it, I'm guessing it's American...

Love the smell of Noxema. When I was pregnant, I used to give it a whiff whenever I felt nauseous. I guess it was psychological, but I swear it helped ease the queasies.

The only thing I've ever used for sunburns is aloe. Although if that stuff smells as good as everyone says, maybe I should get myself some...

I've used it for sunburns, and I also use it for acne control.

Cool. I've heard of Noxema, but never used it, and never knew you could use it for sunburns.

I've always used the Aloe gel stuff.
