Earlier this year, my friend transferred to me the domain names he had registered & had been minding for me.

The basic unit price is USD9.69-- presently, I have 7 registered domain names.

I would like to try to keep the domain names, and in order to keep costs down, prefer to reduce the cost of maintenance.

I am seeking from the members any domain name registration firms that they would recommend? I am hoping for recommendations to firms that are inexpensive, reliable, have a good service division and active forums.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

That's actually a good average price for top level domain. Most places offer batch discounts.
A couple of tips on getting good deals:

Sign up for the company's newsletter. Often times they run some really good specials. I've purchased a domain in the past for as low as $1.99

You can also look up coupon codes online that you can enter during he checkout process.

GoDaddy (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/pe122hz74z6MQRRRPVUMONQUVRNT)
Dotster.com (http://www.dpbolvw.net/p3101qgpmgo378886CB3958BDA)
Netfirms (http://www.kqzyfj.com/eg108r09608OSTTTRXWOQPTQTPTV)

here's some godaddy promo codes you can try out:

fbDomain10 - get 10% OFF on regular prices on .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ, and .US domains, expires 13th Aug 2009
MTECH10 - get a .com domain for 30% discount, works for renew as well
cjctld749 - $7.49 .Net .Org .Biz
goaz2001ai - $6.99 .Com domains (Register,Renew,Transfer)
gdr0802v - 30% off on .COM domains
gdr0802y - .COM JUST $7.49* PER YEAR! register for multiple years. Plus get FREE Private Registration!

Of course for hosting BlueHost (http://www.jdoqocy.com/l4117mu2-u1HLMMMKQPHJILPOPMJ) is pretty good

It offers something similar to the hosting/domain package my company offers to my clients where they get a free domain for signing up with a hosting plan.

Hope that helps a bit.:D

Interesting thread!
Maybe you could get more ingo on webmasters or domain forums?

Rez78, why do all your links point to totally unrelated websites? (are those affiliate accounts or..? I am afraid to click them! :))

People wrote all sorts of bad things about GoDaddy online, maybe it's good to check out the complaints & their forums first, to see if you might have a problem or not..

I'm still looking for a reliable domain name too, have learnt a lot in the process, lol..
There are some deals in the newsletters indeed, it's always good to read the small print too.. (& google up registrars etc)
