First Word or First Sentence?

I like the question, and I'm glad you managed to make your first thread, as a fair warning though, I can't help but feel like this might be moved to the AW Roundtable, or the "Exercises, Prompts, and Games" section. I'm not sure if they will, I think it makes for something fun to do while greeting you. Mine are all boring: The, It, Those, She...
But it's the word that comes after and the tone, I think that matter more then the word itself.

My first word is IT.
Thrilling, I know.

I'm infinitely more concerned about the first letter than the first word. If it's an H or a P or a K I just won't read on - I just won't - it's obvious the rest of the manuscript will be as bad.

And the last word, too, in a manuscript is really really important, but the third or fourth last words don't bother me as much for some strange reason although the penultimate paragraph in Chapter three is always one of which to be wary.

My first word is normally 'The'.

Although starting with 'Kookaburras' might work for a SF thingy I'm thinking about.

My first word is my MC's name: Mateo.
