I had an amazing time at the Stokers Award Weekend (http://gabrielnovo.com/2009/06/15/hwa-stoker-weekend-recap/) by the HWA. Nonstop insanity, but I try my best to recap it.
In a nutshell, anyone who is a fan of horror in any of its forms (book, film, tv, art) should have attended. I have my fingers crossed that I'll be able to go to the next WHC/Stokers in Brighton, England. http://www.whc2010.org/
I am curious as to why so few Horror Hounds (if any) attended the Stokers this weekend. They had cats flying in from Canada, UK and Australia. It was probably the last convention Richard Matheson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Matheson) will ever attend or even John Farris's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Farris) last since he tends to keep away from these gatherings. This was a big one and from what I heard from the other con attenders, the best standalone Stokers event they've ever had.
I would love to know if anyone in here made the effort to pop over. We might have accidentally met during the festivities. who knows?
