Jenna, I was surprised to see that each finalist has a slightly different assignment. What was the inspiration?
Good question. But, to tell you the truth, I absolutely love the assignment. Brilliant! I look forward to seeing if the finalists have each others' characters in their pieces. Excellent topic, Jenna!

Fabulous assignment that I think'll take everyone out of their comfort zones.

Like I said, I'm curious about the inspiration behind the assignment. Was it to bring the finalists out of their comfort zone? (Except, of course, for William, who, apparently, does not have a comfort zone...)

I'm turning 39 tomorrow. I'm not a man, but this whole mid-life thing is becoming uncomfortably familiar. Still, fiction of any sort is a stretch for me. None of the ages seems like a stretch; if anything, these are the ages each of us (I'd think) are most comfortable with.
Haskins, I think your comfort zone is discomfort... (yeah, I know you hate those things, but I wanted to make sure you knew I said that with a smile... and that I've turned into a little, green, kicking circle...)
The idea of different topics for different writers has come up a few times; I think it's very cool. Thanks, Jenna!

Sigh...one can only hope.
