Would a bio of Ronnie Earle be a seller?

Not a best-seller, maybe, but is he enough of a well-known figure to warrant a biography?

For those of you who need reminding, he's the former Travis County DA who indicted Tom Delay, and other politicians. Super nice guy, I've been thinking of approaching him about writing his life story, but given the amount of work, even preparing a proposal, I'd like to get feedback before doing anything.

In my opinion, no. I think people tend to move on so quickly with political scandal, etc., that the peripheral story of the guy who indicted them is probably too fine a slice. But others may see it differently--god knows I'm wrong often enough.

Yeah, the Texas market sales alone are probably big enough.

If the guy is a "giant killer" and the actual story has enough dramatic appeal and an uplifting theme of overcoming the odds, then I don't see why it wouldn't sell nationally. Like a Grisham novel, only true. And everyone loves a little courtroom drama, if you can get ahold of some trial transcripts.

It isn't whether people are so fascinated in advance by the guy, but whether the story itself is gripping, offers some lessons, and makes people think this guy is fascinating and why didn't they pay attention to him earlier?

I agree... although I do remember hearing his name only because I follow politics closely.

After reading his wiki page... it doesn't seem like he accomplished much, but he does sound flamboyant, very unethical and just plain crazy.

It could make a good story... but then again I doubt he would approve or cooperate with a story that didn't portray him in a good light.

So, I don't now... ;)

If you portray Ronnie, it would have to be the full picture. He has had some big success and some spectacular failures. I wouldn't expect him to cooperate.

Psst: and some of the recitations in that Wikipedia article are not exactly as things happened.
