I hope it's okay to lob a thread to one of our own, because it's all about the writing.

My ten year old has come to me, face glowing and fists in the air, practically sloshed from the high that only finishing a good book can give.

Apparently, Adrienne Kress', Alex and The Ironic Gentleman is the best book of all time. So says Julia. She's hassling the heck out of the school librarian and pinning down anyone who'll listen to implore them to read this book! so she doesn't have to be all alone in her joy.

So, congratulations Toothpaste, and thank you. It's terrific to know how much talent we've got swirling around on AW.

I've read it too and I'm nearly 33. Will you adopt me?

It's a really really fun book to give to people.

Keep it in mind; Christmas is not far away.

I loved Alex too. And so did my then 12 year-old son.

That's just wonderful Perks, thank you so much! And thank your daughter so much from me again. I've been feeling a bit down today (Timothy got an "eh" review), so reading this has really raised my spirits. Gotta love AW, people are so wonderfully supportive here.

Thank you all so much.

I haven't read Timothy yet, but I tell everyone what a great book Alex is. I'm an old, old woman, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Can't wait to read Timothy.

Way to go, Toothpaste.

And BTW, I've been wondering, my son watches iCarly all the time, and I see a definite resemblance to Freddy Benson. Is it just me?

My daughter is very annoyed that she has a class-assigned book she needs to tackle before she can crack 'Timothy'. She can hardly wait.

I've ordered my copy from Amazon, so september when that turns up! this bit gets me from the website...

Germany – where the translated version of her title reads as Die halsüberkopfundkragendramatischabenteuerliche Katastrophenexpedition der Alex Morningside. Seriously.

I love Germans :)

One question for an aspiring MG writer, what font size and spacing do you use? I want to know how mine will look, but all I do is whatever Word has a preset! (Ariel 12, Times New Roman 10 or whatever it is!).

Yay! It's available on Kindle (I'm abroad just now). I just Kindled it. It'll be the next mommy-daughter read aloud book for us.

I love Germans :)

When they don't have a word for something, they slam a bunch of other words together and hey, presto!

German was the only other language I could make any progress towards learning. They know how to make a rule and mostly stick to it.

In other news, I heard my daughter laughing while reading Timothy and The Dragon's Gate last night. That's fun.

You guys are all so sweet, thank you! And yes, isn't the German title awesome??

I also think it's really cool the book is available on Kindle, though I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to actually see it on any such a device (don't know anyone who owns one, though I'd love to, sigh).

Perks: awesome she's enjoying Timothy. I always worry a bit as the voice and MC are a little different from Alex.
