Hello!
I'm trying to write my first crappy newbie script and am confused about when you are supposed to write certain things in all capital letters in the description lines like everyone else seems to be doing all over the place in their screenplays. I know it's done when introducing a character for the first time, but that's basically all I know. When else is this supposed to be done?
Thanks!

Hi mattie, don't angst over things like this. Worry about not writing a crappy script instead. :D
Character introduction and scene headings. That's all the caps you need.
Using caps for sound effects seems to be going of fashion but I still do this, especially when -- BLAM! -- a gun shoots.

Some people also write CAPS for emphasis:
A LOUD noise came from the door. Glass SHATTERS.
But personally, I prefer no caps...

Like Derek said - worry about not writing a crappy script...
After that, on the rare occasion that you need to indicate that we are seeing something through a character's eyes you may use FRANK'S POV but only when it is absolutely necessary for the reader to understand what's going on. Also, if I need to show something close up I'll write ON THE NOTE PAD for example. But I never use actual camera directions.
Once your script is done and the story is amazing, you can read it and if a few words SCREAM out to be capped, feel free. Emphasis on FEW.
