Hi,

Introduction
We are a team of around 20 people who are producing a new fantasy RPG game using a major AAA game engine, one which has been used on many major titles.

We've designed a game and are putting together prototypes at the moment & would like to bring in a writer or two to assist us with the script; add dialogue and flesh it out, link things together better and so on.

Whats been done?
We have designed 16 different characters, who they are, their purpose, personalities and backstory in an abstract form.

We have designed a large fantasy world; which has over 100 different "areas" or "places".

We've written the key plot points.

We've drafted out the chronciles in an abstract form.

We have 5 different nations; each with a specific style and their own place, history and story.

It sounds like we've done a lot but we are not writers so its all in abstract form. We know what we want to create and have great ideas for gameplay and the type of game we want to produce.

So we would like a scriptwriter who enjoys fantasy to come along and help us flesh out the characters, world, chronicles (and hence plot) and also assist with smaller quests.

We're also open to a writer evolving the games general key plot points, characters and the world also; if it makes a better game then we're up for it.

Who are we, Style/Nature/Production Values
We're not a major production company; in fact I own a small interactive production company with my better half and a few friends. We all love games and want to create one. So we threw a pretty big sum of money into state of the art tools; took the time to come up with a good game idea and built up a talented creative team (now over 20 strong) to help produce the game.

We're shooting for a pure fantasy type RPG game (not Tolkien style fantasy, but a Square-Enix style fantasy game) with an almost hybrid anime/realistic look to it; rich and colourful.

We have very high production values; although we're breaking into the industry we are all talented professionals. So we're trying to create something good, that will stand within its own right & that people will enjoy.

Creating a game for the love of great games basically.

Payment
I'll be honest, I don't know how much a scriptwriter will cost; we want a good job doing so I'd like to ask you to tell me how much it will cost. But I guess we will need to tell you more about the game; which I will do for anyone who contacts me.

I'm open to pay per word, lump sum, milestones, profit shares from sales of the game or any other method really as long as its fair for everyone.

There is one thing I would like to do, but its by no means a requirement. It's out of fairness to the other people working with me. Everyone else is working for free until we reach BETA when we will attempt a publishing deal (we have contacts). The results of which will determine how we move forward and the rates and method of pay. A few are shooting for clean profit share as they believe in the game and want to be a part of a new studio emerging.

So that would be a preference, but its by no means essential nor dertermining on who I would select. The money is there to pay a writer so please if you want/need pay as you go through it then its not a problem at all; the reason others are working in this manner is because if we fail to get a publishing deal we'll have more money to market the game (about $400,000) and that would equate to more in terms of a profit share; rather than lack of funds. (well I guess it is, a lack of funds to produce and self market; so try and keep the funds to self market as an online distro unless we get a publishing deal).
