The boy stood on the burning deck
When a thort came into his head
What a bloody fool he was to be standing there
When he could have been home in bed

The boy stood on the burning deck
Picking his nose like mad
He was rolling them into little balls
And flicking them at his dad

The boy stood on the burning deck
With a pocket full of crackers
A spark landed in his pocket
And blew off both his knackers

Hi Herman and :welcome: to AW!

The boy stood on the burning deck
and gave his girl a little peck
she told him to go to heck
instead he wrote this piece of dreck.

For my prize I would like the 6/49 jackpot. :D

The boy stood on the burning deck
and looked across the bow;
before he dove to safety said,
"I'm glad I'm not Captain now!"

Welcome to AW, Herman.

The boy stood on the burning deck,
a grimace crossed his face;
"A king, a queen, a jack, ten, ... DEUCE?!
I feel like such an ace."

Excellent response people.
I am officially running 5th, 6th and 7th, whoopee, I wish I could count!

Thank you for the redirect.
I am clearly new and didn't know we had a poetry spot.
Contrary to popular belief, I cannot write poetry to save myself.
Some say it spread from there to EVERYWHERE!!!

The boy stood on the burning deck
beside him was a large lounge chair
The conflagration grew an grew
The boy turned his back but it never diminished his fear!

The boy stood on the burning deck
blaze started a bad case of the hic-
cups. They popped him into
a nearby flying balloon.

Hiya! From one noob to another welcome aboard!

The boy stood on the burning deck
blisters growing on his neck
his melting shoes now such a wreck
his burned up trousers looked like heck

The boy stood on the burning deck,
his shipmates laid in rows
pray'd the sea'd embrace the wreck,
his sins swallowed, unknown.

The boy stood on the burning deck
All he had was a Captain off the barges
There was a bunch of 23 elephants coming
He put in a TRUNK call and reversed ALL the charges!

The boy stood on the burning deck
As flames began to pass him by
Then as he felt the intense heat began to engulf him
His soul was released to drift away in the winds of time

The boy stood on the burning deck.
The girl leaped right over the side
And nearly broke her freakin' neck,
But the dude stayed behind and fried.

The boy stood on the burning deck
and cursed above the thrum:
"The lifeboat's got a cover charge...
and two-drink minimum!"

The boy stood on the burning deck
he couldn't raise a shout
"I die," he croaked into the smoke
and then his flame went out

The boy stood on the burning deck
and held out his blue ink bic
shouted at the internet quick
who the hell won this contest, ick!

The boy stood on the burning deck,
Frantic about his charred dollar.
He quickly got embroiled as heck
And hotter under the collar.

The boy stood on the burning deck,
Wildly compelled to run and hide.
Tonight's meal is a flagrant wreck.
The barbeque fell on its side.

The boy stood on the burning deck
His hair waved in the breeze
His HEAD bobbled about and nearly fell off
As the fire forced him to his knees!

I haven't been here for some time.
I must confess to great joy as I read so many excellent and original works. The response has been most heartening, and I truly trust that so many people have enjoyed themselves as they have passed thru here. Clearly, this has to be one of the greatest creative successes I have ever had and even if I remain unpublished, I feel SWEET success right here and now!

The boy stood on the burning deck,
He dug deep into his pockets and fetched a dollar,
The flames they roared around and above his neck,
But sadly, all they did was incinerated the cash and boy didn't he HOLLAR!

I said to myself the boy was on the burning deck
This place is so much hotter and bleak
There are people here and there and here some more
But all the cash I managed to raise could get him a 2bit whore

The boy stood on the burning deck
His life was clearly little more than a speck
It is resurrected, is this a good or bad deed
We will have to wait and watch the seed!

The boy stood on the burning deck,
thinking honor comes and goes,
but as he owned just that one neck,
he'd best strap into women's clothes.

The boy stood on the burning deck
While crying his eyes out
Thinking of how the world is a wreck
It cannot be saved, this he knows without a doubt

The boy stood on the burning deck
Of starship enterprise
A Klingon dagger in the neck
Of Romulan disguised

The boy stood on the burning deck
Observing the mess he'd made
The turkey was fried
But so was his hide
At least his insurance was paid.
