Ready to sub (again)?

I have a YA novel That was rejected by the Delacorte Press contest; I've since reworked it, gotten another rejection on it, and I'm getting ready to send it out again. I'd appreciate feedback on the first chapter to make sure it's really ready to go; I've posted it in the Share Your Work forum. Thanks!

I went and read but it looked as if you had already gotten so much to think about and I didn't leave any critique. I think its quite the first chapter however and it really does leave me wanting to know more.
