Hello, all!

Wow! What an incredible week! You guys all did an amazing job--again! Vote count was up this week, to 126. That's good, but not good enough. Anyway, my computer is shot, so I had to go down to my fiance's office to count votes. Sorry I'm so late, but that's the reason no one has heard anything until now.

This week we are losing:

Rhush

Becky, you've been a great competitor, and I know you've built up a really loyal fan base! Good luck in all your future endeavors!

Oh bummer! I really enjoyed your writing, Rhush. I'm sad to see you leave the finals. I must say, though, the 'maxi pad' story was hilarious! Loved it!!

Congrats to the remaining. Wishing you all the best for the next round...

It's always hard to see someone go, but that's the nature of the game.

Good luck to you, Becky.

:Hug2: Becky. I just wanted to pop in here real quick and say I'm sorry to see you go. I'm sure we'll still see a lot of your writing around the boards.

Congrats to the rest who continued. See you around on Monday. I had to move in with my mom this week and I won't have internet at her house until late afternoon on Monday.

Thanks to all who cast votes my way.

Love everyone here. This board rocks!

This is now two weeks in a row I have cast my vote for the contestant who gets eliminated. If this keeps up I may have to consider not voting. Or I could take bribes to not vote for people...

Rhush, I found this last piece LOL funny. Your strength throughout the contest has been in compelling ideas for your pieces. The use of the kanashibari sleep state where the girl can see things others can't but is powerless to stop them, the 19th century mortician, and of course this latest one, all of those are wonderful.

If it is not inappropriate to step over the line from sympathy to some constructive criticism, I'd like to say that the one thing holding you back is a certain technical weakness. Errors in diction or POV as an example. The good news is that these are elements of the craft which can be remedied in a straightforward manner with editors, peers and study. Once your concepts are no longer being held back by these pedestrian issues, I predict you will be beating the pants off Steven King. Well, literarily if not in actual sales figures.

All the best!

PS - If you'd like me to crit some of your AI entries to see more specifically what I'm talking about, you need only ask and I'll post one.

Rhush is gone? NO WAY!!! That's it, I demand a recount. If she still is out I will have to boycott AW. I mean it. I will leave and never come back. You will force me to beg to be let back on the PublishAmerica board. You don't want that, do you?

Rhush, I have something to tell ya. I will put it in ( ) so nobody but you can read it.

(I will knock off one of the other contestants so they will have to bring you back. Niko came back to American Idol when a contestant left. It can work I tell ya. Just let me know who you want me to knock off. I can also try to blackmail Jenna, but I don't think I can find anything bad. I will look though.)

THANKS YOU GUYS!!!Ya'll really know how to make a girl feel much better about being cut! You guys rock! :Guitar:

Mr. Underhill, I totally agree with everything you had to say about my technical gliches! I've always had more creativity than writerly skill going for me. I would be very happy to have you show me a few pointers. Thanks for the offer! And as far as the Steven King comment!!! Man that makes you my new best friend! I'll pm or email ya with some pieces as soon as I get a chance. Thanks again!

Kevin...what can I say? Thanks a ton for your recount demand! Ha! I love a guy who is hard core about his fiction! And... I'll say this in () so no one else can read it, (I have a knock off list for ya. We'll negotiate a price. What do ya say?)
Ha! You rock, Man! When I finally sale my novel, I am SO looking you up!

Skylarburris, thanks so much for your vote! I may have lost, but every single vote still means the world to me! And by the way, your avatar is adorable!

(I have a knock off list for ya. We'll negotiate a price. What do ya say?)I tried to bribe Jenna with the remaining body parts from Surfer Dude, but I haven't heard back. There's a gnarly pancreas in it for you if you *don't* put me on your hit list ;)

I miss your writing already! (And yeah, hope is... tough)

Rhush
05-25-2005, 06:08 AM
Jenna didn't want body parts??? What the hec is wrong with her? So ya say ya got a pancreas, do ya? Hmmmmm. Sounds enticing.....

Kevin Yarbrough
05-26-2005, 01:40 AM
Jenna not wanting body parts is a bit strange. She could have sold them on the black market and used the money for AW. A pancreas isn't all that good. Try the kidney's with a little butter, garlic, salt, and a dash of oregano. Have a good glass of chardonay and some white rice with diced peppers. Yummy.

Rhush, (send me that list, we can work out a deal when I see who is on it. The price will very depending who is on the list. If Haskins is on it the price/payment will be pretty high, since the guy scares me.) Look me up when you sell your book, or anytime before that. Would love to hear from ya. Keep it up.

I am new here, and last week's vote was the first one I tried out. The competition was incredibly tight; each piece I read made me change my vote. I had to go through them several times before making my decision.

Like many other posters here, I'm positive we'll be seeing a lot more of you. Never give up, never surrender.
