It seems my ideas haven't been as dark or horrifying as they have been in the past.
When I started writing horror, mainly short stories about serial killers which were graphic but not quite original, I was a dark and bitter teenager who saw so much wrong with the world.
Now I'm a 22-year-old who still sees much wrong with the world, but personally things aren't going too bad for me. Work sucks, but when doesn't it? I'm living with my partner and loving it.
Do you find it hard to write horror when you're not feeling that bitter about the world? If you're feeling happy and dancing in meadows, can you come home and throw your main character into a house full of horrors?
I'm trying to work out if I'm just in too good a mood to write horror, and should maybe try something else for a bit.
