It has been at least three years since I visited or participated in this site. My attention was taken up with the publication of three non-fiction books in the last three years. Now, I feel in the groove again to "screw around" with the 25 or so screenplays I have registered in the last 13 years. I have optioned five during that time, and none have reached development. My efforts went astray, I think, because I had the wrong approach. Many years ago I read an article written in an old tradepaper now defunct, called "The Hollywood Scriptwriter." (I think) Anyway, the article's author, an established screenwriter woman, made a random comment to the effect, "You are never going to sell a script." I did not know what she was talking about at that time. Today, I think I do. I have begun to pursue other ways of getting a script into development aside from "selling the script."
Does anyone know what I am talking about?
