Well, I have good news and bad news.

Good news: I have the results.

Bad news: There's been a 3-way tie for last place.

This means we're going into voting overtime.

You are now voting between...

JD Kiggins, Trumancoyote, and Rhymegirl

Just among those three contestants, please choose your favorite entry from this round and PM your vote to Saint Melina by 10 p.m. ET Tuesday night (April 26). Yes, that's less than 24 hours.

Those three contestants (JD, Truman, and Rhyme) cannot vote during this round. The other contestants can.

Click here to re-read the entries (http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10699) and click here to send your vote to Melina (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&userid=201)! Please put the name of the finalist you're voting for in the subject line.

After I voted for the "sudden death" count, I had to laugh. Jenna pulled a Ryan Seacrest -- she pulled three contestants from the "safe" zone, stood them in the center of the stage, and put the spotlight on them. "One of these three will be leaving us tonight..." ;)

Oh my! This is a disturbing turn of events!

Does this mean we lose two this round?

I may start to twitch with the suspense soon...

*Gulp* Couldn't we, uh, like, let everybody win? This is hard. Such great writing!

Blue, I don't think we loose two, just one of the three. Wow, the suspense, the drama, the... :hat:

Exactly: of the three, the one with the least votes will not be moving on.

It is difficult. Even though I voted for what I felt was the clear winner in this round, I have to say that it in no way indicated a significant lack of quality in the other entries. This is gonna be really hard.

Jenna -- should we have paramedics standing by for JD, Truman, and Rhymegirl? Or at least a manicurist?

Omigod, Jenna!!

Do you mean I have to bother my neighbor and re-borrow the dart board that I just returned?!?! Ack!

As a sidenote:

jdkiggins - I thought you and the other contestants would have figured this out by now but just in case you haven't - I'm gonna publicly reveal it:

Whenever you post in a thread that you are fairly sure Haskins will see - make sure you use smileys! Bright, happy, colorful, silly, cheerful and especially cute smileys.

They sap his evil power.

Just a tip....

And besides, girl, I read your entry: I know what's what.

I'm readying mah bum for the boot this time 'round.

jdkiggins
04-27-2005, 12:30 AM
Dang, and we're not allowed to vote this time. I've always cast my vote for another's piece, but I've got my fingers crossed for you two. :)

What if?
What if there's a three way tie again?

I don't know about that, dragon, but I can tell you that if this board goes down between 10 PM and midnight all three of us will be :Hammer: .

You and rhymegirl are going to make it.

Paging jdkiggins . . . step a little closer :Hammer: .

Please remain positive :Hug2: . Nervous is good, but step away from the negative thoughts--it's all good. There aren't any losers in this contest. Well except all those people who entered and then didn't vote! What's up with that?

JA,
Thanks, you're a sweetie too. :Hug2: My words are words of encouragement to others, not a nervous negative suggestion toward myself. I'm trying to be positive for truman and rhymegirl. You see I was honored to be part of the first top ten/eleven. Anything past that, well...let's just say, I'm still honored, and I'll still be honored if I'm not voted out of this round.

I don't want to sound all sappy, but my career as a writer has been great, even with all its trials and tribulations. I don't know how long truman or rhymegirl has been writing, but if it has been a short time, I'd hate to see them discouraged or bummed out because they may or may not make this round.

If I thought for one second that any of the contestants would give up or be discouraged by not winning the vote, I’d concede so s/he could continue. That’s just me. :)

I've also heard that the soda is running low in my 12 mile radius area and I just can't justify the big trucks delivering cases of it all night long.

Breaking into song - you are, so beautiful, to me

Nice nice thoughts - it's not a zero-sum thing, really - I've been more productive since just entering the darn thing what - six weeks ago now?? - than I was before. Every step turns you to a new direction. Like someone else said - it's all good.

I agree. Many things about the craft seem to be coming together for me over the past few weeks. Uncle Jim pushing the concept of regular B.I.C. time and the weekly themes as a challenge to put something useful out there would be worth it all by themselves.

And speaking of the JFF thread, mommie4a, did you ever get any feedback on your posts? I had meant to put up some comments on your Moammar Qaddafi piece, but haven't yet. I wasn't sure if you wanted it, and as far as this week goes, you mentioned something about being busy with Manischevitz and Charlton Heston in a loincloth, I believe...

Ohhhh! I would hate to lose one of them.

Thank you both - yes - I did get feedback (Cassie - I've got matzah for a brain this week - did I rep you for that feedback? I hope so! also - where in CT are you - I grew up in Woodbridge.). For me, it's an amazing story of friendship. I look forward to integrating into something larger.

And yes, Mr. Underhill - I always want critiques. I've got something in some thread - humor I think it is - right now re: my father. It's for a column I do and it's due next week. I've been struggling with it, so input helps me focus and weed. I also have an oped about to be turned in for my local (but still metropolitan) newspaper that I'm told will run for mother's day. If anyone wants to comment on it, let me know and I'll send it to you.

I didn't catch Charlton this year but I have to say, Michael Moore really did a number on him and I haven't felt the same since.;)

In the meantime, I really have to give Jenna kudos for the contest - it's been a great draw for me and I know I'll continue to be active even when it ends. This is a great community.
