One other thing worth noting is their quick turn around on rejections - plenty of time to turn the story around and send it out again if it doesn't work out. I love that.

Yeah, isn't their average like 7 days or something. (That's for rejections.)

I also forgot to add one more thing! Subscribe to the GUD...
(and no, I'm not affiliated. Just a fan.)

Thanks much! :D

Issue 3's at the printer, Issue 4's being pruned back to 200 pages worth of content, and yup, Issue 5's been opened to submissions, though it's really a rolling process.

If anyone's looking to get a feel for GUD for cheaper than our (really cheap) $3.50 PDF cover price, we've got a $1.50 PDF deal going on with Issues 0 and 1. I sent that out to folks who'd bought an Issue of 2 as part of their "Issue 3 is now available", and ... might as well make it available to submitters, too. :)

So, how firm is the 15,000 word limit? It seemed a little vague when I read it, more like you were interested more in the story than the word count.

We're more interested in story than word count, but 15,000 is a large chunk of the magazine. If it rounds easily to 15,000, that's fair. If it rounds more easily to 16,000, ... if you make a note and say you're AW and say I said it was ok ... we're still _very_ unlikely to go with it, but you can try us. :)
