Ok, got a an agent-y question to throw out there for you all. I queried an agent a WHILE back who requested my manuscript. After reading it, she liked it, but really had too full a client list to take it on. Long story short, she told me to feel free to shop it elsewhere in the meantime, but if I was okay with it, she'd keep it under consideration in case her time allowed for her to take someone else on. She said to feel free to follow up with her if four months went by and I hadn't heard from her.

So the four months has gone by, and I'm getting ready to follow-up. I know it's a long shot, but hey, I'm going to try it. Anyhoo, in that four months, I've finished a new work which I feel is even better than what she's been looking at. Here's my q: when I follow up email, should I mention the new work at all? What do you guys think?

I would absolutely do so, esp if you think your new book is even stronger. In general, agents prefer to acquire clients who can keep writing books they can sell, rather than one shot authors.

I don't see any downside.

Yes, definitley speak about the new book. As rugcat, says, it will be likely to interest the agent knowing you're not a one-book guy.

Do it soon, and if this agent still says not yet, get the new one out all over the place.

Good luck

Behind you! Boo.
If this agent is in NYC, I'd wait until after Labor Day if you can because she is probably on vacation-mode right now. There is something about September in NY that feels like starting anew. At least for me. My brain switches off in August.

Yep, certainly tell her about it.

My guess is she probably didn't love the first one or she would have found room in her schedule for it. So having a second stronger one in hand can only help.
