Is Think Progress a fair source for information and a legitmate org, or is it just one big ridiclulous joke?
(Yes, I know it's a false dichotomy, but hear me out)
From the "About (http://thinkprogress.org/about/)" page of Think Progress:
The Center for American Progress Action Fund is a nonpartisan organization. With the blog, CAPAF seeks to provide a forum that advances progressive ideas and policies. [my boldface]
Now look at this entry (http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/02/bush-porn/).
Stupid. And partisan.

No, no, no. That's not what I want. You're supposed to offer a weak defense, like "well, it was a bit of humor," or something along those lines.
Then, I would be able to launch into a full-scale assault about how all these left-leaning blogs are playing up this pseudo-story, even though:
1) Nobody has done any verification, nor run any numbers to see what exactly we are talking about, hear
2) Nobody has look at historical data (that I can see) to see if there is generally an uptick in such things during tax rebate season
3) The story, as presented, is an indictment of the masses as whole, the people "progressive" thinkers are supposed to be championing. Why? Well, it essentially says that the masses--even during these "trying" economic times--would rather look at porn than save money, pay off bills, or feed their starving children.
See?

"Loser" vs. "Rational agent"?
Geesh, don't put words in my mouth. You want that much flack, go for it.
I was thinking "Left" vs. "Right," honest I was. :D

It was an honest question, for anyone familiar with Smash Mouth...

Question: How is an entry about people spending their economic stimulus checks on porn "partisan"?

Answer: By the way it's presented, goofy picture of the President and all.
Answer: By the way it's presented, goofy picture of the President and all.
Commentors named Dharma, McWars, and Hussein McCain, as well as several that have the middle name Hussein, are additional subtle clues.

Considering the right and left alike are pretty dissatisfied with Bush right now, I'm not sure poking fun at him can be considered partisan one way or the other.
Now Rob can launch into his assault. ;)
(I agree with all his criticisms so far, but I don't really see how that makes it partisan.)

Except that the left and right are dissatisfied with Bush for very different reasons. For the left, it's obvious and straightforward: the guy has proved to be a doofus even worse than they worried he would be.
For the right, the guy has proved to be the doofus they prayed he wouldn't be, and that has resulted in screwing over their electoral chances this year, like, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay bad. And most of them are embarrassed at being hung out to dry because they supported him so desperately over the past few years, even when things were going so obviously wrong.

Um, yeah...okay. I still don't see that as "partisan".
That being said,Think Progress is a blog operated by a progressive think tank, The Center for American Progress. Democrats aren't always so "liberal" as some people might think; there are conservative and moderate Dems as well. "Liberal" and "conservative" are political ideologies, not limited to one party or another on the whole.
