When writing a character whose voice is being listened to on an answering machine (ie being listened to by another character) do you write...
BILL (V.O)
Blah, blah, blah.

You got it.
The way I like to look at it is if the actor is on set with the other actors, then it's a O.S. in the scene, but if the actor isnt and his dialog is added during post-production, then it's a V.O.
That make sense?

Not to split hairs, but (FILTERED) can also be used.

i used filter alot, but filtered is pretty specific for phones, walkie talkies, intercoms etc...
