In this Sunday's New York Times Magazine, there was a series of photographs taken from the train that carried Robert Kennedy's body from New York to Washington. It is estimated that a million people lined the tracks to say goodbye.
The pictures show mostly poor people, black and white, at unguarded moments. Most of them are carefully dressed--I don't know if that was the times, of if it was a sign of respect for Bobby. All of them look bereft. I've never seen photographs like this.
If you don't get the Times, go to the website--you can view the pictures as a slideshow. The photographer's name is Paul Fusco.
