I have story that I am looking for places to submit. While it is not hyper-gory (in fact, I consider it very black humor) though it IS a graphic telling of a man who makes a career out of deep-frying his own body and then eating it.

The story is just under 5,000 words.

What publications are there that are known to be open to this sort of work?

Thanks,
Cupofjoe

Gosh. I read a story by someone named "Poppy" Something about 2 Dhamer style cannibal/serial Killers who fell into homosexual lust and ate each other... Maybe you could look up that writer and find who published her. Her first name was Poppy. It was a very bizarre little book.

Gah! I don't know. I gave the book to a weird guy I knew, never saw it again.

That's what I'm thinking too.

Cup, why not head over to Duotrope.com and look through their horror zine listings? Chances are you'll find a fit there.

And stop over and visit us in the horror forum (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=44). We love fried body parts there. :D

Cemetery Dance?

Dark Discoveries?

Apex Digest? (I'm surrently reading a long serialized story in Apex about a secret government project to clone famous serial killers... to... uh... prevent that kind of thing from happening again. Yeah, that's it, to prevent it... Anyway, the story is quite graphic.)

IF the story is well written, and if the point of the story is about something more than shock value, I'd be interested in taking a look - http://www.theoddvillepress.com
